Why sustainable
Interior Design.

Sustainable Interior Design to me means focusing on the customer’s goal and finding the best and most environmentally friendly design concept and project development within their budget. Sustainability is not a fleeting change that will pass it’s a way different way of thinking design, where everything is interconnected, and everyone exists within a system they inevitably depend on. We all live on planet earth, and good design means approaching problem solving, planning, and design developing while thinking of the bigger picture. Everything we change in our lives will have a ripple effect on our surrounding, which can be good or bad. I draft, program and develop design concepts that will best achieve your goals and best affect your surrounding while fitting within your means. I support concepts like reuse and upcycle, because sustainable design doesn’t always mean buying something new, it often means making the best out of what we already have. I focus my design on function, durability efficiency and reuse, because my first priority is to make your life and your surrounding truly and lastingly better.

Leaving the world a better place than how I found it is what I am dedicating my life to, and a huge part of it is sustainable interior design and all the people I have the opportunity to help and all the lives I have the opportunity to improve.

Why affordable
Interior Design.

Interior Design is a problem solving service that everyone should be able to afford. It is a service for those who need help achieving a healthier and more comfortable life, including those who need accessibility and those who will age in place.
Interior Design to me is about finding the best solution to your problem that will fit within your budget.
Hiring an Interior Designer doesn’t always mean you’ll need to buy new furniture and fixtures, not necessarily. You can hire me to find a way to make the best use of your space given what you already have. You would be surprised by how much bigger a room can look and feel sometimes by just rearranging furniture. You would also be surprised by how creatively you can repurpose unused furniture to be just perfect for your new project, maybe with a little tweak.

You need a new perspective more than you need new things, more often than you think.

Why my blog.

I used to think that recycling was most of what I needed to do to make sure I wasn't damaging the planet and I was still living a very convenient life. I have found out that it is not quite as simple as that. Recycling as a process is often just as intense and disrupting as the production of a material in the first place, so I started considering a sustainable lifestyle thinking it was the right thing and probably way too expensive to do properly. I was wrong. The ability to have a sustainable lifestyle is within everyone's reach and the point of this blog is to help you understand how and why.
My name is Bianca Ferrando, I have a degree in Interior Design along with a certification in Biomimicry, a member of associations that focus on sustainable living such as US Green Building Council and Green Building Initiative, and I would love to help all those who want to save the planet making better choices within their financial reach.

Sustainability to me means living in a way that will leave the earth and humanity better than when I found them. It means asking myself what the most helpful course of action is after educating myself about the options I have in front of me. It means offering a different kind of Interior Design services, focused on solutions instead of purchases. It means a lot of different things and encompasses my life as I live it and enjoy it in its every aspect, and it can mean something different to each of us.
Sustainability is not just about pollution, it is about business practices and how we treat people as a society. It is about all aspects of our lives that need to change to be able to be perpetually possible.
If we do not change the way we do things, we will come to a point where our lifestyle will not be able to continue as it is for lack of resources. We will run out of space to throw our trash, run out of oil to make plastic with, run out of trees to build and make, run out of patience for disrespect and discrimination, run out of time and chances to fix all the problems we should not be causing to our planet and to ourselves.

Changing things is on all of us and I am here to help you contribute within your capabilities and reassure you that even the smallest decision and the smallest action have an impact.

You CAN make a difference.
